Student Recital Performance – Julia

Student Recital Performance – Julia

Julia is one of our talented students who can sing beautifully and play guitar at the same time.  This is not as easy as it sounds. Songs are often memorized and then practiced until you can focus on singing and playing together. As a student Julia works hard at each song she learns.  Some of these include this song I See Fire (Ed Sheeran), Blackbird (The Beatles), The Bed I Made (Allen Stone), Father’s Father (The Civil Wars), Dust to Dust (The Civil Wars), The One The Got Away (The Civil Wars), Stolen Dance (Milky Chance) and many more.  Here is a video of her performing at one of our guitar recitals.

At Jammin’ Music Studios students are given the opportunity to perform in the Olympia and Lacey area at coffee shops, Lakefair and the like.  At this particular recital a full band stand band was used for the performances.  All the students did very well and we are proud of them! for more information or contact us today to sign up.

January Group Guitar Class – Now Forming

January Group Guitar Class – Now Forming

Jammin’ Music Studios is happy to offer group guitar lessons. Group lessons are a great way to learn guitar! Students not only learn to play music, but they are also able to hear others play and learn together. The “playing with others” part is often missing from private lessons so this class offers a unique and fun way to learn. This also gives beginners an opportunity to try guitar without the pressure of one-on-one lessons.

Students will learn the basics of playing guitar which include chords, strumming, reading tablature, learning the notes on the neck and more. As with our private lessons, we will teach contemporary music and students will be playing a song before they leave the first class. As time progresses, and the group improves, students will be given the opportunity to suggest songs they would like to learn and the group will learn them together. This gives them the same experience that our one-on-one students enjoy….learning the music you love.

Joey Archer, one of Thurston County’s most sought-after and family-friendly guitar teachers will be leading the class. Joey has been teaching guitar for almost 20 years and for several years now has taught over 100 students a week. His patient teaching style and his focused attention to each students individual needs and desires has attributed greatly to his success. In just six years he has grown Jammin’ Music Studios from a one man show to Olympia’s largest music studio with 18 instructors who teach over 500 lessons a week.

Group Guitar Lessons – Week #1

Group Guitar Lessons – Week #1

Have you ever wondered what a group guitar lesson is like? Here is the run sheet from our group’s first lesson last week. There is SO much more that we covered, but this is where we started.

Group guitar week #1
Group Guitar – Week 1

Than as a follow up Joey, the instructor, created a helpful video to aid the students in their first week of practice. THE VIDEO IS A ROUGH CUT (one take) but it helps a ton to have this sort of midweek help.

We are already receiving great feedback

“I just wanted to tell you I’m very impressed with your business model and teaching style. I’m learning so much more than during my last attempt and I’m more dedicated/committed to learning.”

“Joey, thank you so much! The video is wonderful and I’m excited to practice. I came home last night and saw the first finger connector between E and G. I just needed time to digest the material I bought a music stand too.”

We will be starting a second group guitar class in January or earlier if there is enough interest. $60 a month is the cost. Contact us here for more information or to get on the waiting list for our next class.
